Why We're Here

The AI hype has been everywhere for some time now, and there’s no use in me repeating it. But it’s not hyperbole to say that AI is going to touch every piece of enterprise software and technical architecture, and that AI is going to change everything about how we develop and deploy software. That statement isn’t all that controversial. In fact, the only real debate amongst serious thinkers in software is about the matter of degrees and the pace of change.

That same realization hit me in December of 2022, when we were already fairly deep into planning what would turn out to be the last GlueCon. And that realization is what propelled Kim and I to start SW2con.

It’s a simple but powerful truth: we stand on the edge of a change in software development and deployment that is as massive as….pick your large technology shift and insert it here.

Anyone that sees that change coming is who we want to have at SW2con. That change is going to drive a lot learning in the software development community — and in the enterprise software and technology space in general.

So, with all of that in mind, let me clearly state our purpose in starting SW2con: if you’re a developer interested in AI, or a developer that wants to dive in on AI, or an enterprise moving toward deploying AI across your technical architecture or software development and deployment processes in any way, then we’re here for you.

We’ve set out to build a community around the realization that there would be so much to learn as we move through this next phase of software development and deployment. And we hope you’ll join us (for both learning and sharing).
